A pesar de que parece salido de la primaria, Conor O’Brien no es ningún novato.  Ya a mediados de la década anterior tuvo éxito con su primer grupo, The Immediate, al cual se le auguraban muy buenas cosas e incluso editaron un disco, y cuando parecía que llegarían lejos, se separaron. Conor paso un tiempo afinando sus habilidades para después crear otra banda donde el sea el jefe. Así nacio Villagers, de Dublin, para el mundo.
