Decía Graham Coxon en entrevistas previas a la salida de The Magic Whip, que cuando Damon Albarn escribió la melodía de Ong Ong le dijo «lo siento, creo que me vi muy popular para esta canción, pero creo que a veces hay que hacerlo».  Sin duda Ong Ong será una de las canciones largamente recordadas en la dilatada discografía de esta fabulosa banda.
